Hotel Ondimar

The room and breakfast were both modest. The location was good.

A good place.

The room for three was roomy, with a wardrobe, table, and chairs for meals. The bathroom was spacious too, with a hygiene shower and a gas-heated shower that had hot and cold water. We found the facilities clean and fairly well kept for an old hotel, and the staff were helpful. The price matched the standard, as did the simple breakfast. It's a good value if you need somewhere to stay one or a few nights in the capital. There is a closed garage behind the building, but it has only a few spaces, so you need to request one when booking. Finding the place was a challenge. There's no sign or marker, and we passed it twice before stopping to ask for directions. We arrived around 11 p.m. to a completely dark entrance and reception, with the front door locked. That felt strange at first, though we later understood it was for security. As soon as the receptionist saw us, he turned on the lights, and a staff member opened the door and brought our bags in from the car. There's an elevator inside, but the long staircase at the main entrance makes the hotel clearly inaccessible, and I don't remember seeing a wheelchair ramp. The bathroom in our room was also two steps above the room level, so even getting in there meant climbing a little staircase. Kkk. Since the garage is at the back and the front and back streets are at different levels, getting to it also involves a lot of stairs up and down. During our stay, scaffolding for facade maintenance blocked the route, though I assume that was temporary. The breakfast wasn't bad, but I'd have liked more variety. That's usually a deciding factor for me when choosing a hotel.
