The location is the only good thing about this hostel. Pay attention to the negative reviews. Nobody explained how things worked when I checked in, including how to get in after reception closes. The place smells like cats, the kitchen is gross, and there's no ventilation. I had a private room, but it smelled moldy and was really loud.

This was the worst hostel I've stayed in. I've never felt so uncomfortable with hostel workers. At check-in, the guy in charge asked for our Instagram and asked awkward questions. During the night, someone opened our room door but didn't come in, which was really strange. The toilet on our floor was broken, so we had to keep going downstairs to use another one. After checkout we asked to leave our luggage while we explored town. They showed us a spot in the middle of the house where anyone passing through could get to it, so it didn't feel safe at all. When we returned at 3 pm, they said we owed 30R$ each because they only store bags until 2 pm. They yelled that the rule was written on booking. After saying we'd pay, they blocked the hostel exit and threatened to call booking. We missed a flight because of this whole situation.

Clean and acceptable. Just a heads-up, don't use the old, beat-up Teflon pots.
