There are people coming and going all day, including lots of solo travelers and interesting personalities. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and remembered my name throughout the stay. The private rooms are about what you'd expect from a good hotel. Just know there's loud music from the rooftop late into the night. I liked the atmosphere it created, but if that's not for you, this place probably isn't a fit.

The hostel is in Rio Vermelho, about 5-6 kilometers from Salvador's old city center, Pelourinho. Praia da Paciência is nearby and quite nice, and the nightclubs and two squares with places to eat and drink are close too. Breakfast is okay, and the staff are friendly. The rooftop pool is nice to have, though I personally didn't need it with the beach nearby. The price is reasonable, and you can ask about a discount for a longer stay.

We spent three nights here in the african suit and really enjoyed our stay. It's an affordable place, fairly close to Salvador's main spots, and everyone speaks a little English. The upstairs bar was shut for renovations while we were there, so we missed out on partying up there, but it looks like it would be great.

The hostel is in a great location and has a cool feel, though I ran into some issues with the air conditioner and my booking.

I've stayed in hostels around the world, and this was one of the most ordinary. The reception staff gave poor service, our room wasn't cleaned once during our five-night stay, and the common area smelled like vomit both times we tried to spend time there.
