Barão Palace Hotel

Really great.

The breakfast costs extra if you ask for an egg. The hotel needs renovations, and the bedding was badly stained. A light fixture was coming loose, cleaning was poor, and water pooled in the bathroom.

The shower was the bright spot. Room 109 had a terrible mattress with a dip in the middle. Even though it’s cheap, some things could be better. Over four breakfasts, I had to ask for unsweetened coffee three times because it had run out. Some days there was no cheese, juice appeared only once, and pão de queijo was served on just one day. Breakfast needs to be more consistent, since it was really poor on two of the four days.

After 16 hours of travel, you may not think to check reviews, but you deserve better than this place. The room and its sheets, pillow, bathroom, floor, towels, and blanket were all dirty. There was cockroach droppings on the blanket, and the place felt unhealthy. Breakfast included sour products, among other problems. It was a horrible place with a terrible atmosphere. Don’t stay here under any circumstances.
