Monte Serrat Hotel

For me, this is the best of the bad hotel options for a few urgent days, at 220 real a day. It’s downtown, and walking the streets at night feels a little dangerous, though the area outside the hotel is okay. The rooms are old and need maintenance: I saw damaged beds with holes and dirt beneath the sheets. The furniture is dated and needs an upgrade too. Hot water wasn’t available at night, but it was back after 0500 am. They leave windows open to air out empty rooms and clear the smell, which could let bugs in, so check the room carefully before sleeping. Otherwise, you might get a heart attack like I did 😁 The A/C worked properly, and there was a TV with Netflix if you use your own account. The restaurant food was okay, with fixed-price meals costing 110 real a day. Wi-Fi was available, and a speed test showed a fast 10 mbps connection. Use Uber or a taxi to get around the city, and hopefully you won’t have any problems.

Just a basic stopover before a flight. Nothing special.

The room was decent, though the shower and taps were leaking and needed fixing. WiFi in the room wasn’t very good. Staff were pleasant, and the restaurant food was up to standard. The hotel is also within walking distance of the city’s main attractions.

The food tasted good even though the menu stayed the same every day, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the shopping area, and the WiFi was slow but usable. That’s most of what earned the 2 rating. The rooms are very old, though the bed was comfortable, and the blanket wasn’t good. There was a cockroach in the room, and the elevator shook badly enough to feel like a nightmare each time. The TV was there in name only, cabin lights and tiles were broken, and there was no water in the cabin or room service.
