Pousada Aloha Santos

The night staff member, a bald man whose name I can't remember, really made my stay. He was warm and took time to talk with me, which meant a lot while I was dealing with anxiety. I’d come back because of how I was treated, though I’d worry about finding a place to park on a busy day. The inn doesn’t guarantee a space, and the street parking is paid blue-zone parking with no nearby alternative. It’s close to the beach, and you pay at the inn; paying in installments comes with interest. I booked through a rental app, which worked out fine. I stayed two nights in room 5. The beds were good, the pillows comfortable, and the sheets were clean and didn’t seem old like some reviews said. There was air conditioning and a fan, and both worked. Breakfast was simple and fresh, though I liked the first day better than the second. They even had couscous. I didn’t find mosquitoes, bugs, damp, or mold, which I checked for because I was with someone who has severe asthma and allergies; they had no problems during our stay. The front rooms do get street noise because the inn is downtown. Cleaning could be more thorough, especially the windows and bathroom sink. On one morning, a cleaner asked early whether I wanted the room cleaned or the sheets and towels changed. I said no, since I like to keep things tidy myself, but they do offer daily cleaning for longer stays. A little bathroom fragrance might make it feel nicer too.

The location was good, and the staff were polite and helpful. We stayed for two days in room 03, though it needs some plumbing work. The toilet was loose and let odors through because it wasn’t sealed properly. We also noticed small insects on the walls, so pest control seems needed. These are small fixes that could bring the place up to a satisfactory standard.

Room 06 was really unpleasant, especially the bathroom, and there was a lot of noise from the ceiling and reception. The staff were very attentive, though.

We stayed one night while traveling, and the inn fell short. The sheets had stains and looked dingy. Breakfast was just French bread, margarine, and a little egg.
