Quality Inn Saint Paul

The room was neat and clean, and reception were quick to help whenever I called. The team at Quality Hotel Saint Paul came across as very professional. Breakfast was great and fresh, especially the eggs when made fresh. I'd happily stay here again.

The hotel's building might pass for four stars, but once you factor in how staff handled things and what the services cost, I'd give it barely two. The word “Quality” in the name feels far removed from the service I experienced. Over my seven days there, the room was left untidy twice. The first time, I called reception for clean towels, then called again 10 minutes later. I was told they were on the way to my fourth-floor room. After more than 15 minutes with no towels, I went down myself. Staff discovered the cleaner hadn't brought them and couldn't reach her on the walkie-talkie. In the end I went to the cleaner's closet on the fourth floor and got towels for myself and my girlfriend. The second time was much the same. I'd forgotten the do not disturb sign, so I phoned to apologize and explained no one was in the room. They assured me it would be tidied and fresh towels would be there when I got back that night. We returned after 12am, and my girlfriend guessed they hadn't done it. I said they had personally promised they would. She was right. The disorganization was obvious on other occasions too. Breakfast came with the stay, but the fruit wasn't fresh, and the fruit juices were heavily watered down. If you want fresh fruit and juice that isn't diluted, you'll want to eat somewhere else.

The room service was poor too. I waited an hour for soup and a salad, which felt especially frustrating at an expensive hotel with such bad service. When I arrived at 21h, nobody came to the desk for 20 minutes. My friend stopped by to say hello, but the bar was closed and there was no way to get a drink. I let my friend come to my room for half an hour so we could have a Coke and talk, and they charged me extra just because someone visited. I've never encountered that before, and I travel a lot for work. The desk staff were unhelpful and treated me badly. For a hotel of this standing, I also expected someone to speak English. If you have another option, go elsewhere.

The room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were polite and helpful. There are two shopping malls close by, so the location is good.
