I arrived after midnight without a booking, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely glad to host me. The place was very clean, the internet worked well, and breakfast was good. I stayed in a non-AC room and used a fan, since the room I'd been assigned had the AC set to 17C and the remote wouldn't work to adjust it to a more reasonable temperature.

There were two kitchens and a games room, and my room was roomy with a modern shower. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The place is bigger than the photos suggest, with more of a hostel-hotel feel. Breakfast was simple, though the fruit was nice.

The staff were pleasant and the place itself is nice, but it didn't stand out. My room in the women's dorm could have used more light, and the location is a bit far from the city center. There weren't many other guests while we were there, so I wouldn't necessarily suggest it for someone traveling alone.

It was clean, and the air-conditioning ran at night, which made it easy to sleep. There’s just one bathroom for each sex, so they could get busy, though I found them comfortable.

Getting around São Luís was easy from this clean, well-organized hostel. Tanan means “welcome,” and that’s exactly how the place made me feel.
