Sitio Peixe do Mato

After 20 days at Sítio Peixe do mato, we left promising to come back soon. We came looking for a slower kind of holiday, close to nature, with birds and insects to listen to and little monkeys to see, away from busy city routines. The place is about 500 meters from the main road and perhaps 2 km from the tropical beach at Praia do Toque. We liked the modern bungalow style and the shared facilities, including a kitchen, wood-fired oven, living rooms, laundry, and snooker. Every morning from 8 to 10, a friendly staff member served a very tasty vegan breakfast made with local organic ingredients. I really recommend visiting this lovely place.

The breakfast became even better once we got to know the lovely women who made it, and little monkeys would sometimes come by hoping for a taste. We stayed in the açaí room, and the inn kept its charm in the morning just as it had when we first arrived. There was so much art and thoughtful decoration to look at. We arrived at night and worried about how we’d contact the team since there was no signal on the road, but they were waiting just ahead to show us the inn. The grounds also have a charming kitchen, a lovely pool that often made a perfect end to the day, and a lookout with a beautiful view where the greenery meets the beach. We loved our five days there. Every morning, opening the door brought a fresh little moment of wonder, and we wished we could stay longer. Thank you for those days in paradise. We were already thinking about coming back as we left.
