The internet was a bit disappointing, but everything else made up for it. The hotel is comfortable, clean, and peaceful, and the staff make you feel welcome. The people were genuinely kind, more than I expected from the great reviews I’d read. The neighborhood feels safe, especially in the daytime. There’s a shopping mall within five minutes, and actually three big malls nearby, all with amazing food options. My stay turned out better than I imagined.
Breakfast had lots of food and a good selection. Check-in was quick and friendly, and we were assured the TV and kettle would work, but neither did. There wasn’t a room phone to call reception either. The room was okay, pretty basic. The pool was tiny, and the sauna door wouldn’t shut properly.
The air conditioning heated the room well, but it ran as noisily as a truck, and the fridge made a loud noise whenever its compressor started. The location and price compare poorly with other hotels near Paulista, and the staff’s English was poor. We were ushered out at 10 am when breakfast ended, which was embarrassing with our business guest because we couldn’t even offer coffee. NEVER AGAIN.
The room was uninhabitable, with stained sheets, a dirty, poorly maintained bathroom, and a badly worn mattress, among other problems. The staff weren’t helpful, and I had to pay for another room. This was far below Mercure standards, and I expect the hotel to make sure third-party rooms meet basic cleanliness, maintenance, and quality standards. I’d booked a Mercure room through my company’s travel agency, then found out at check-in that it was managed by a third party. I stayed only because the room was inside the hotel.
I had a great stay. The staff were helpful and very friendly, and some of them spoke English. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.
