The apartment looked great in the photos, but appearances were deceiving. I was flooded with WhatsApp messages in Portuguese, and if you don’t understand it, you can miss the check-in instructions. They sent 15 messages, each 20 lines long, then asked which apartment I was staying in. After struggling to check in, I finally got access. The glass door wouldn’t lock, so someone could get in while I was away or even while I was inside. Cleaning was superficial and rushed. Open the freezer and you’ll see what I mean. The finishes were terrible, and the place badly needs basic maintenance and paint. There were no safety covers on the electrical outlets, so I wouldn’t bring kids. The bathroom was poorly laid out, with no hooks or shelves for shower things. For €60 or 360R$, the customer service was awful. They leave it to guests to report problems instead of helping. Who wants to manage a rental during their vacation? There was no luggage storage either, and nobody at reception to hold my bags while I waited for my next destination. Sorting out your own logistics is one thing, but at this price, isn’t that the bare minimum? If dealing with apartment problems on vacation sounds fine, this might be the place for you. If you want a relaxing stay and decent service, run!

The location was a big reason I chose this place. It’s on a quiet street, with a bakery, snack bar, pizzeria and mini-market nearby, and Avenida Paulista is only a few blocks away, along with other things to do. The stay was difficult from the start. The only way to contact the property was through WhatsApp, with no phone number or reception to help. Charlie’s app was awful and wouldn’t accept the documents or process the other guests’ details. I had to ask for help on WhatsApp, and it took more than 6 hours for them to handle it. Then Charlie sent me the wrong door code, and it took nearly 40 minutes to get into the apartment with a new one. The apartment was extremely dirty, from the kitchen utensils to the bedrooms and bathrooms. There were moisture gnats, sludge larvae and black mold, and the toilets were dirty, with one clogged. It was the worst property I’ve ever stayed in.

The check-in site was unstable, slow and badly optimized. I spent almost 2 hours trying to get through it, but either it rejected my photo or froze. Avoid it if you can. EDIT: I raised my rating to 3 because the WhatsApp support was quick and efficient.
