The room service was disappointing. The food was mediocre, and even after I repeated my order four times, they got it wrong. They didn't apologize or try to fix it. My room faced the spa garden, so opening the window meant being watched by people walking past. The whole hotel was also very noisy, and relaxing was out of the question. After a grueling 13-hour flight, I asked politely about checking in early. The staff curtly said, “Check-in is at 3 p.m. and not before.” I was really disappointed by how little flexibility or empathy they showed. The decor is dated and looks neglected: the woodwork reminds me of a 1970s boat, and the carpet, furniture, and overall design all feel obsolete. The bathroom seemed poorly maintained, and the ancient toilet added to the sense of decay. I also couldn't understand why there was both a Japanese toilet with a wash function and a bidet. My assistant emailed to ask about putting his card on file for incidentals, something most hotels do, but got no reply. I also asked to extend checkout to 1 p.m. It was the first time I'd heard checkout was at noon, and they bluntly told me I had to leave by 12 noon because the hotel was “full,” even though its website showed many rooms available. They offered only 15 extra minutes, which was nowhere near enough. I was taken aback by the neglect and poor service at Emiliano Hotel. Even a one-star place would probably treat guests with more respect and care. With its outdated, dirty, noisy surroundings, I'd strongly advise anyone used to higher standards to avoid this hotel.

The rooms are nice and modern, and the food was amazing. I had a really great time at this hotel, with absolutely nothing to complain about. Everyone was wonderful, from the doorman and front desk staff to housekeeping. The employees were impeccable, and the area was amazing too. As a Marriott ambassador member, I think this is an example of how a hotel should be run. I highly recommend it.

Check-in went smoothly, the staff were all kind, and the room was well equipped. The bed, though, was very hard. The best 90-minute massage I've ever had was at the spa. I also booked a 60-minute facial, which cost as much as the massage. It was basically a face wash, a mask, then a long, drawn-out wipe with sprays that smelled horrible. I complained to the manager, but they didn't make any adjustment. They don't have professional products, a facial steamer, dermabrasion, or peels, so it felt like paying $110 US dollars for the nightly face-washing routine I do in my own bathroom. I had to call three times to get my laundry picked up, even though a complimentary wash was included in my room cost. They ruined one of my dresses and didn't compensate me. I can't wait to return to Brazil, but I'll pick a better hotel. I'll be talking to American Express about recommending this one, and I'd urge others not to stay here.

Our room was spacious, very clean, comfortable, and felt luxurious. After a day exploring the city, coming back to it was something we looked forward to every evening. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was a treat too. We went four times and ordered different things from the menu, and every single item was phenomenal. The area is lively, fun, and safe, with lots of cool shops within walking distance. MASP is about a 20-minute walk uphill, Ibirapuera is about 30 minutes away, and Vila Madalena and Pinheiros are a short drive. The staff made the stay incredible. From the moment we arrived, they treated us like royalty. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating, often anticipating what we needed and thinking of all the little touches. Special thanks to Cecilia, Tomas, and Nicolas. I'd give the Emiliano 6 stars if I could.
