Escambo Hostel

The steaks and sandwiches are great with the locally brewed beer, and the barbecue is done just right. Portions are generous, too. It used to be a hostel, but it has recently become a restaurant and brewery.

The bathrooms could use some work, and the rooms need a little care, but I still slept well each night, as well as you can with seven people sharing a room. I paid 60 Real a night for five nights in a room with seven others, and breakfast was included. The people running this hostel are great and the staff are keen to help with anything. You can also get artisanal beer and delicious hamburgers downstairs. For digital nomads working remotely, it’s directly across from the Google Campus, where you can apply to work for FREE!

The place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. I arrived around midnight, and Mauricio found me a room. He was really kind and shared stories about his life and his work at Escambo. I had a very good time here. Thanks, Escambo!

The traditional hamburger is a nice pick for dinner with friends. They have a lot of distinctive, sophisticated beers, plus good music in the restaurant. It's a lovely place, with beautiful decor.
