I couldn’t have asked for a better hostel.

I felt safe from the moment I arrived, which matters a lot when traveling alone as a woman. The owners were lovely, and the care they showed guests and their little dog made the stay even more special. I already miss the puppy! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the decor and closeness to nature made the place feel warm and welcoming. I had a really pleasant stay thanks to the hospitality and attention I received. It’s well located for exploring the city comfortably and safely, and for heading out early after a great breakfast. I’m wishing the owners lots of happiness and success. If you want a cozy place with a safe feel and kind hosts, I’d choose this hostel. I hope to come back soon.

Edit: They’re closing. This was the only hostel with private bathrooms, and I’ll miss it! I came back for a second stay because it was the only place I’d call a “half-hostel”: it offered private rooms and bathrooms, which I really value for privacy, at the affordable price of a traditional hostel. It was always clean, had breakfast, and the rooms used keys or codes for extra security. The owners were around and extremely kind. There were lots of plants with little information signs, which made the place especially pleasant. It felt a lot like a mini farm hotel. You can walk to Liberdade, and there’s a Wednesday street market right outside. I’d recommend it if you want to save money while keeping your own bathroom and having some peace and convenience. Children and pets aren’t allowed, which helps keep things quiet. My only suggestion is that guests should be told about the owners’ dachshund. If someone is afraid of dogs or has another issue, just talk to them and they won’t bring the dog near. If you get the chance, try Kazu’s orange cake!
