Hostel Liberdade

I only went there to leave my luggage for the day. It’s right in the middle of a touristy area, but also beside a rough-looking part of town that seemed unsafe.

The hostel is centrally located in Liberdade and close to the metro, but that was the best part of the stay. Getting in and out was a problem. The entrance is up a long flight of stairs, so it isn’t accessible for wheelchair users. There’s also an electronic button by the door to open it, but it didn’t work during our stay. I couldn’t leave on my own unless someone pressed another button at the top of the stairs. Our assigned room had a mini fridge that didn’t work, and the bed was dirty and stained. The air conditioning and TV did work well. There are two bathrooms, one spacious and one cramped, and both were very dirty. The kitchen was consistently dirty and smelled unpleasant, too. Breakfast was very limited, if there was any at all. I’d consider staying only for one or a few nights if there were no other options.

A good spot to sleep and recharge. The air conditioning works, and people seemed to spend most of the day asleep, which suited a place meant for resting.

Robson really makes the place. He cooks well and keeps an eye on everyone, making sure guests are having a good time. The hostel has a warm, home-like feel I haven't found elsewhere, and it's very clean with a comfortable mattress. I'd recommend it to anyone.
