155 Hotel

The breakfast was okay, and the man at reception was really nice and tried to speak English. Cleaning was inconsistent, though. One day the staff responsible for it only took out the trash and didn't clean the room.

The room was decent and the internet worked, so the stay was okay. The employees seemed indifferent, but they did their jobs. The bathroom layout was awkward: the toilet was so close to the sink that I could barely stand in front of the sink and mirror. You have to pass through a turnstile to enter the hotel. Electricity only works in the room while the keycard is in its switch, so the air conditioning shuts off when you leave and has to start from scratch when you come back. It runs loudly, but the room rarely gets cool. Breakfast means swiping the card and passing another turnstile. That swipe often fails. I watched three people climb over it in one day. The breakfast room is in the basement, and you can't enter the hotel without a keycard, so this setup seems absurd. What do they think will happen, a gang of hoodlums storming the kitchen? There's no attendant in the breakfast area and no forks. A sign says not to take food out, so you can't even bring a cup of coffee back to your room.

Even for one night, I wouldn't recommend it. The room and bathroom smelled of mold and mildew, and a lot of freeway noise from the city came through the AC. “Minibar” means there's a fridge, but no drinks. Parking refers to a paid garage right next door, which is much like other hotels in Sao Paulo, but it isn't included. Breakfast didn't even have plain black tea. I know it's a budget hotel, but cleanliness should still be expected.
