Hotel Belém

Awesome.

A really bad hotel experience. I messaged to ask about checking in early and other things included with the stay, but got no reply. It took a long time for someone to answer when I called, and the receptionist was extremely rude. She said that early check-in meant paying for the six-hour difference, which would cost more than the night I’d already booked. I waited in the lobby because the price was outrageous. When I asked if there was a bathroom I could use, the receptionist barely answered and just said, “If you want, there’s one over there.” The phone kept ringing while I waited, and I noticed they deliberately didn’t answer. I also saw them being very rude to an older man who came in saying he needed to go to the room where his wife was staying. The room walls and ceiling were moldy. The shower water was a mix of warm and cold at the same time. The bathroom had a sewer backup that smelled bad, and the odor spread into the room. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. They treat guests as if they’re doing them a favor.

They were helpful when I contacted them by phone and WhatsApp. I haven’t stayed overnight yet.
