Hotel Monteneve a 2 minutos do Bom Retiro, a 8 minutos da 25 de Março e ao lado do Comando Geral da Guarda Metropolitana

I found the room comfortable, with a minibar, AC, and very comfortable beds. The sheets and towels had some dingy marks, though it wasn’t enough to bother or upset me much. The location is excellent: close to Luz station and places like Pinacoteca, Museu da Língua Portuguesa, and Mercado Municipal, which I visited on foot. I felt relatively safe, with Military Police vehicles on nearby streets and a Guarda Civil Militar (GCM) base practically next to Hotel Monteneve. I walked back from the station after a night out around 5 minutes to the hotel without any trouble. Breakfast had a nice range, including bread, cold cuts, cakes, fruit, coffee, yogurt, and juice, and there’s a sandwich maker for preparing snacks. The breakfast area is small, so lines for the few tables are normal. I think the hotel management should assign breakfast times to guests. The Wi-Fi was unstable at some times of day. I stayed for two days and had a positive experience overall. I’d rate Hotel Monteneve an 8. Since it’s a 2-star hotel, expectations shouldn’t be too high, but for the price I think it’s well worth it.

The front desk staff were impeccable, a 10 out of 10, and the daily rate is good. There’s an interesting breakfast too. The hotel has a good shower and AC, and it’s very close to Luz metro station. I do recommend it, though I didn’t sleep very well. It wasn’t street noise. There was a lot of talking in the night, and I couldn’t tell if it came from staff or guests, but honestly it sounded like staff. Early in the morning there was more loud conversation, since my room was next to the supply room where the housekeepers keep their things.

The hotel has breakfast, and the location is very good with easy access to lots of places. But the sound insulation is terrible, you can hear everything. Some guests ignore quiet hours after 10 p.m. and before 8 a.m., talking loudly and making noise early in the morning. The rooms also smell like urine from homeless people, I think the odor comes from the ventilation shaft.

I stayed for two days, and it was perfect for me. The rooms are simple, but clean and have what you need for some comfort. I only thought the bath towel looked a little dingy, but it seemed to be from washing, not dirt. Breakfast was wonderful for the price of the stay, plentiful, with lots of choices to try. I recommend it... ♥️
