Paulista Center Hotel

The location was great and the staff were nice, but the complimentary breakfast was very basic. The place was expensive and dirty, and the lifts weren't working. It's an old building that badly needs renovation, though the old air conditioner did work.

I paid for two nights but left after just one because I couldn't take any more. My room smelled, the walls were stained, and the furniture was falling apart. The staff seemed very young and poorly trained. I arrived a couple of hours before check-in and was charged $4 to leave my carry-on in a room. Maybe this is the worst hotel in the world.

The staff's treatment of us was the worst part. They were rude, unhelpful, and seemed to treat me and my friends with contempt. When a friend had her purse stolen by one of the cleaning people, the staff were strangely uncooperative and tried to blame me and our other friend. A few days later the purse turned up in my bag, with all the money gone. The decor was dated and possibly asbestos-ridden, and the hotel also had mould, an uncomfortable bed, and very few facilities. I could have put up with the old furniture and other problems, but not the way we were treated. Save your time and money and book a hostel or AirBNB instead.

For nine days, nobody came to clean, and there was no hot water. The bedsheets had holes, the windows were broken, and the breakfast was very bad. They also tried to charge us for an extra day without giving a reason. Sometimes we couldn't even get out because nobody was there to open the door.
