Pousada Morumbi

A nice place in a good location!

The only good thing is the location if you’re going to Morumbi stadium. There are no cafés, bars, or restaurants nearby, though, and the price is extremely high for what you get. The place was ugly and uncomfortable, unhygienic, and felt unsafe. It looked like a low-budget horror movie, with strange people coming and going and no security. There’s a 24-hour delivery operation on site, and my room was near the kitchen, where people talked loudly all night. The ceiling fans didn’t work, and some lights were burned out. When I checked out, there was nobody at the “reception.” An older man I hadn’t seen before came over offering help. I handed him the key and left. Did I mention how unhygienic it was?

I decided not to stay after seeing the conditions, which didn’t meet even the minimum standard for lodging. There was a strong smell like animal urine as soon as I entered, along with obvious dirt and signs of poor maintenance in the areas I saw. Being close to the stadium might seem like an advantage, but the location alone doesn’t make up for the lack of hygiene and adequate facilities. What I saw didn’t match the standard I’d expect from a place listed on platforms like Decolar and Booking.com. I think those platforms should review the quality criteria for the properties they list. I can’t recommend staying here until there are real improvements in cleaning, maintenance, and sanitary controls.
