São Paulo Global Hostel

We left and found another hostel before we even got to our rooms. The photos were out of date, and the kitchen had less to offer than the pictures suggested. The bathrooms were very dirty, the bathroom door lockers didn’t work, and there was a big kaka sausage in the toilet. Worst hostel.

I paid in full on the first day for my three nights, February 19, 20, and 21, booked through Hostelworld. When I finally checked in on the second day, the receptionist asked me for more money and couldn’t explain why. The owner had told me the day before that I could go to my bed after 2:00 p.m. on the 19th. This was unprofessional, and the owner didn’t honor the advertised price.

The lockers in the room are the only ones, and they’re broken, so there’s nowhere to lock up your things. They also charge 10R for a blanket, which you’ll need if your bunk is by the window, and the blanket I got was dirty too. The bathrooms were filthy, and looking under the beds made it pretty clear they weren’t cleaning there either. It felt like a shared student living space. Worst and dirtiest hostel I’ve stayed in. Do they ever clean? I doubt it. Nasty!

At least they keep the place clean, but I had a bad stay overall. The advertised free breakfast isn’t offered anymore, though they still promote it, and the staff weren’t very helpful. They shut down certain music almost right away, or turn it down if it isn’t what they like so they can put their own music back on. They also don’t really socialize with people who aren’t local.
