Pousada Aldeia Dos Ventos

I've stayed in Brazil for ten years, and I'm still surprised by how little hospitality some places show. This was the worst hotel I've stayed at in the country. The management ignored guests, and the receptionist was often unavailable. The only reason I booked was the central location. When I arrived, the gate was shut and nobody seemed to be around. Another arriving guest managed to get the receptionist's attention from the back of the property. There was no apology. Later I asked where I could buy shampoo, since the hotel only provided two small bars of soap and no water. When I returned, the gate was closed again. Shouting didn't help, so I climbed over it, cut my feet in two places, and was bleeding. The front door was open, but the key I'd left behind was hidden somewhere at reception. I needed to clean my foot, but nobody helped. A housekeeping woman in the backyard couldn't do anything, and called the receptionist, who had gone to lunch. After waiting ten minutes, the receptionist came back very slowly and still didn't apologize. She called the owner, who lived in another town and wouldn't come over. I was told I could get a refund and find somewhere else. The next day, my room wasn't cleaned and I didn't get fresh towels. I had to ask twice before they cleaned it, and the housekeeping woman looked grumpy. The owner has no idea what he or his staff are doing. The exception was the red-haired breakfast woman, who really did want to help and please guests. Hospitality is about serving people with heart. If you don't like the job, do something else. I won't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it.
