What lowered my rating was the lack of breakfast and room service, not the simple style of the inn. We stayed until Monday, having arrived on Friday, and only saw the owner at check-in. There was no room cleaning or towel replacement. It wasn’t a problem for our short stay, but it could be difficult if you stayed longer. At the time I’m writing this, January 2022, breakfast was no longer served because of the COVID pandemic. The inn is very simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable. It has a rustic, quiet atmosphere, and the constant sound of the river São Pedro (if I remember correctly) comes from behind the property. Lumiar’s square, with lots of bars and restaurants, is about a 10-minute walk away. The simple setting was exactly what we were looking for.

The side window looking out toward the river, with its constant sound, was a highlight. The bedding was immaculate and felt thoughtfully prepared, and the outdoor deck was a relaxing place to sit. It’s a lovely, cozy inn with wonderful energy, and the host was discreet, pleasant, and helpful.
