Pousada Azul Banana

The pousada is across the street from the beach, so it’s great value for money. The room was spacious and airy, with air conditioning and a fan, and we had a good welcome and a decent breakfast. We missed having a barbecue, though. We were celebrating my nephew’s birthday and had to order pizza instead. As for the beach, Maresias felt messy. Shops and some homes have taken over the beachfront promenade and spoiled the beach’s beauty. I don’t plan to return to this place.

The location was okay, but the service was bad. The pousada was awful and dirty, with poor quality bedding, and it looked clearly neglected by management. We arrived late, slept there because we couldn’t find another place for the night, and left the next morning. I don’t recommend it. The photos don’t match reality.

It’s a shame to see the place in this state. It used to be very good, but time and a lack of basic maintenance have taken their toll. The pousada feels abandoned: the pool isn’t clean, the bathroom shower enclosure is broken, and there was only one sheet on the bed.

The location is great, but the rooms are very run down and had a terrible urine smell, even with the bathroom door shut. The bed only had a bottom sheet and one blanket. The bathroom had a broken shower enclosure, lots of mold, and a toilet lid that was broken and looked bad. Breakfast was awful. I don’t recommend it, and I won’t stay there again.
