Reinhard and Claudia were accommodating and helpful, and the stay was a truly lovely, well-rounded experience. The Poussada is beautifully situated among lots of greenery, with plenty of animals around, including dogs, cats, and horses.

The horseback riding was superb, with lots of different options for good riders. Meals were excellent, and I recommend half-board. I spent three nights at Fazenda Nosso Paraiso hotel, a beautiful, natural, unspoiled little paradise. My room was lovely and spacious. It was a wonderful experience, and I hope I can return!

We visited the large market in Saquarema and went to Rio, and our guides’ local knowledge made the trip truly memorable. There are plenty of excursions to choose from, and horse lovers will be thrilled by the different riding outings. My wife was especially impressed by how well cared for the horses were, though I don’t ride myself. The Fazenda is beautifully maintained, with lots of shady, peaceful places to relax after the drive from Rio. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished. Our bathroom was enormous, with enough room for the whole family even during the busy morning and evening times. There’s a botanical trail where you can learn about different plant species and where they come from. Friendly owners and delicious food rounded out our stay. It was wonderful of them to share their paradise with us.

The hosts were highly dedicated, the welcome warm, and the food superb. Claudia and Reinhardt Udluft gave our daughter a wonderful first riding holiday, with outings into the beautiful countryside. Their many insider tips also made it much easier for us to get to know Brazil as a travel destination. For hiking and relaxing near Rio de Janeiro, this is an ideal place to stay.
