Hotel e Flat Sobral Mundi

I used to stay here every week. Even after getting very poor service from one of the attendants a few times, I kept coming back. But on my last visit, we’d agreed on one price and were charged a completely different one. There’s no breakfast, the air conditioning and TV remotes didn’t work, and the minibar was switched off. The manager was rude to us. They’ve lost a customer.

It’s near the center, across from the bus terminal, and my simple room had furniture for storing clothes, which I appreciate. The place was clean, with crisp white sheets and a clean smell throughout. There was also a minibar and a balcony. For a hotel in this category, I’d call it good, especially after staying in some very run-down places around Brazil where the bed or bathroom hardly felt usable. Still, there’s no breakfast, and you have to buy everything. The TV is old, reception is poor, and the internet signal is bad. I’ve paid the same price elsewhere for cable TV, good internet, and more included.

The bed was good, the Wi-Fi worked in the room, and the location was great. I was welcomed warmly, and for the price it’s decent value. There’s no breakfast, though, and the room had a few structural problems: one outlet above the pillow had its cover off, and the TV remote didn’t work.

I asked for a double bed, but got two single beds pushed together, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The room also smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the bathroom window wouldn’t close, so there was no privacy. Cleaning was poor, and I found a cockroach as soon as I entered. The water went out more than four times in three days, and sometimes I had to buy water to bathe. The hotel provided no basic help.
