What made the stay special was Samuel himself. He’s a deeply spiritual person who knows the region’s biome inside out, and having him host us and guide us to the waterfalls and pools is an experience you shouldn’t miss. My husband and I had lovely days at his Pousada Gameleira. The room was simple, the solar-powered shower worked well, and Samuel made a delicious artisanal breakfast himself. The location is wonderful, with a pool practically in the pousada’s backyard and the lovely Poço Pari close by. We left feeling renewed. Let yourself open up and receive, as Samuel would say.

The gameleira feels like a gift from God. Pousada da Gameleira is a lovely find near Cachoeira do Tabuleiro, and Samuel welcomed us with thoughtful care throughout our stay. Everything felt personal and lovingly prepared for us.

Our stay was really unpleasant. The room felt small for three people, and the cleaning could have been better. Breakfast was poor, too. During the night, something in the ceiling space kept scratching and running right above our heads. Then we were itchy at night, as if there were fleas in the beds.
