Hotel Aquarius

The room was spacious and the beds were clean, and the woman at reception who helped me at night was polite and proactive. But the water had a strong rust smell, with rust marks on the sink and floor. There was so much rust in the water that people should pay attention to it, it could really hurt the hotel's reputation. The TV antenna didn't pick up any channels either. They need to improve things.

The friendly housekeeper and a couple of nice reception staff were good, and the reception itself was pleasant. Still, the service needs work. Even though I paid for my stay, I was told sheets and towels would only be changed every two days. I paid in advance for services that weren't fully provided, and what they advertise doesn't match what you get. I also had questions about the garage, and one attendant was very rude. The air conditioning hadn't been maintained either, and if you don't keep an eye on things, something is likely to be missing or go wrong. For a company owned by someone with a refined hotel like "Dom Henrique," I expected a little better. They're right in the center of a big city but aren't ready to offer reception service to match. They even say another hotel isn't good, though I won't say which hotel or who said it. These are the kinds of experiences that mean I won't look for this hotel again. Maybe one day they'll improve the attention they give guests.

I'd ask for the double room. It had a working TV channel, a minibar, a mirror and several outlets. It's close to the bus station and two blocks from a supermarket. The other room was large and had two beds and an LED TV, but none of the channels worked. There was just one outlet, used by the TV, no mirror, and a small table without a chair. The bathroom showed its age, so I asked to change rooms.

The best part was leaving. The price was nowhere near worth what was offered, and I won't come back. The staff seemed grumpy and rude, as if they didn't want to be there, with no effort to welcome guests. The garage is tiny, with room for about five small cars. The room was bare: beds and a tiny old TV that only worked when it felt like it. No reachable outlets, table, hooks, or anywhere to put your things, so your luggage goes on the floor or stays in the car. The WiFi didn't work. In the bathroom, the so-called mirror was a car rear-view mirror. It made me feel like a trucker from the 1940s trying to comb my hair. Just careless. Breakfast was only dry bread, with nothing to spread on it. The utensils were dirty, and the choices were bread and cakes that looked old. Scrambled eggs? Don't even dream of it.
