Pousada Recanto Das Pedras

The room had old fixtures, and from the upstairs room where I stayed the bathroom water came out extremely weak. I also found spoiled fruit at breakfast. I believe the woman who served me was the owner. When she noticed I was looking at another option, she said, “Well, I’m not serving you anymore, you can leave.” 🙃

The breakfast was a letdown too, the bread and cakes seemed old. We had one double bed and one single. The double felt like sleeping on a board with barely a finger’s width of mattress on top, while the single made awful noises whenever anyone moved. The bathroom light burned out and my husband had to replace it. There was a terrible fan in the room, and the floor seemed like it might give way and made a huge racket. Disappointing!

The outside of the pousada is fairly pretty, but the place was really dirty. The breakfast was plentiful, with juice, yogurt, coffee, tea, fruit, cakes, and savory options. The historic center of Tiradentes is nearby, but not close enough to walk to. I was a bit disappointed by the rooms: the bed linen was old and the blankets smelled musty. At some places the owner welcomes you warmly and makes you feel at home. Here I found her curt, even a little rude. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We arrived without booking and were treated very well. They even charged less than Booking, though that rate was for paying in cash. The breakfast was excellent, the bed and pillow were good, and the shower water was extremely hot. The bathroom was a little dated but didn’t get in the way of our stay. The room had a minibar and TV, but no cable. Wi-Fi was slow and didn’t work very well. I really liked the furnishings in the shared areas. I’d definitely stay there again.
