Haras Trevo de Ferro

The natural setting is lovely, and the place has a lot of potential. The parts that need management attention let it down, though. There are no meals, so guests have to sort out food themselves, but the cabins only have a tiny minibar that barely holds anything and no refrigerator for perishables. That means going out repeatedly for groceries or meals, and less time enjoying the property. The Galpão crioulo is a nice space, but it feels neglected. The tables and chairs are too heavy to move, and a sofa is piled in among the tables so you can’t get to it. One table has a broken glass top, which feels unsafe. There’s also no fridge for drinks or food if you want to have a barbecue. The poolside floor is slippery, so you have to be careful. The setting is enchanting, but the facilities leave a lot to be desired.

The cabins were great the last time I stayed, but this visit I found them dirty. The windows were very grimy, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and the wall above the stove was filthy. There was blood inside the minibar, too. The cabins need a lot more care when it comes to cleaning.

For the price, this was a 10/10. I had a beachfront room with a balcony, and the value was excellent. I’m holding back the fifth star because Picarras isn’t the prettiest stretch of coast, and there were a couple of small things missing, like toast at breakfast.

The cabins and the place itself are wonderful, and it’s close to the beach, so it’s great for getting some rest. The cabins could use a refrigerator and a decent stove. The game tables in the Galpão are old and have a few problems.
