The road to the hotel needs a lot of work, with car-sized holes and mud, and the pillows could use replacing. Even so, my husband and I would stay again for the excellent service and delicious breakfast. We found the hotel on a weekend sale in Trancoso and were pleasantly surprised: the beds were very comfortable, the room was clean, and the huge outdoor patio had a bathtub. Taking baths outside with the feeling of being in a forest was a great experience.

We stayed five nights over New Year, and it felt as close to being robbed as any hospitality experience I've had. We were charged over 600 USD per room per night for service that wasn't there. None of the staff spoke English, there were bugs the size of tennis balls in the rooms, hot water was unpredictable, and there was no flexibility with services or our arrival and departure dates. This place normally costs ten times less. The hosts took advantage of us as tourists who weren't properly informed, then refused any reimbursement. This is theft. Stay away.

The breakfast room is too small for the number of guests, so you might arrive and have to wait for a table to open up. On the plus side, the service is excellent and there's afternoon coffee for guests.
