Trancoso Pousada

Fantastic!

The bed was good, the sheets were excellent, and the inn staff were all very willing to help. They were the saving grace. The place needs better upkeep, though: my room’s curtains were dirty and hanging off the track, and the pool water was clear but its bottom was loose and discolored, which gave us a really bad impression. The Booking photos showed breakfast served as a buffet, but it wasn’t like that on any day I was there. There’s also a bar nearby with live music, and in room 10, where I stayed, it was impossible to rest during the music. It sounded like there were loudspeakers in the room.

The location is very convenient, the pool area is nice, and our room was clean. Breakfast is what spoiled the stay for me. They serve it à la carte, and after trying it once, I didn’t want to go back: everything arrived wilted, there was nothing to choose from, and the kitchen staff took a long time to bring what we ordered. I had to go out every day to buy breakfast and eat in the room or somewhere else. We had no other problems, but this was really frustrating, and we don’t plan to return.

You get what you pay for here. Breakfast is very good, served by a friendly team, and the simple room has good bed linens and towels. It’s clean, although some details were missed, like the bathroom ceiling and light fixtures. The staff were helpful and took care of my request to have those cleaned.
