Hotel Alpenrose

Show.

The lights in the rooms only switch off automatically at 10 p.m., so forget about sleeping before then, even though the rooms have balconies. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but this one takes the cake for being so unreasonable. It seems appearance matters more than guests' comfort. Ridiculous. I won't return or recommend it.

The breakfast was good, but I can't recommend the hotel after all the hassles. It's right in the city centre and feels old. The bathroom needs somewhere to put makeup, the plastic shower enclosure and tiles need replacing, and the simple room curtain should be changed. My brother asked to move from his second-floor room facing the street because trucks pass during the night, but the morning doorman, Sr. William, wouldn't allow it. Fernando, the doorman on another morning, was very kind. When I left, I put my key at the hotel door, and the cleaner, who is from Haiti, had put it in a storage room. Reception wanted to charge me for a replacement, so I had to get out of the car and go back to the room to ask where the key had been put. There was no shower cap in the bathroom either, so bring one from home.

Everything was clean and secure, and the hotel is close to everything. The room was spacious, with a balcony and a big bed. The TV isn't a smart TV, and the shower isn't gas-heated.
