Chalé Aconchego

The room's ceiling started leaking during the heavy rain, soaking several things we'd left on the little table. We reported it, and the owner said there wasn't another room available, but she'd have someone check the roof the next day and move us if a room opened up. Neither happened. When it rained again, water began coming through the bathroom ceiling too. At first the upstairs room seemed basic but fine for our four days in Ubatuba. The owner had told us it was the only room free, after the family who booked it had an unexpected problem and couldn't stay. Once we settled in, though, we noticed the room was very hot, and the ceiling fan looked like it might fall off at any moment. There was also a musty smell that set off our allergies, pillows that looked dirty, and very worn sheets. It wasn't a good experience, and a lot needs improving.

We paid for three nights but left after just one. The room was tiny and dark, smelled strongly of mildew, and the bathroom was clogged. The sheet on the bed clearly hadn't been changed since the previous guest. When the mildew set off my baby's allergies, we asked to switch rooms, but nothing was done. It wasn't the size of the place that prompted this review, it was the poor cleaning and disorganization. A terrible experience.

The owners live at the inn, which gives it a family feel, and the service is excellent. It's simple but cozy, with good rooms, and it's easy to reach, right by the highway and close to Praia Grande, Ubatuba's busiest beach. There's Wi-Fi, and you can save money by choosing a room with a stove and making your own meals.

I don't have a lot of money, but I do like a nice place, and this inn is great. The price is wonderful and the service is perfect. The rooms have everything: a microwave, fridge, TV, bathroom, all of it. This was the first inn I stayed at in Ubatuba, and now whenever I go back, I stay here. You all deserve a big congratulations. Keep it up!
