Green Haven Residence

We spent four nights here, and the whole experience was unpleasant. The reservation said the cost would be 2025 brl and that credit and debit cards were accepted, but only on our last evening did we find out they took only cash or pix. The receptionist told us to get cash from an ATM, so we tried two different ones as requested. We had to take Ubers to both, only to find that one bank wouldn’t accept foreign cards and the other place she sent us to didn’t even have an ATM. We refused to go to any more places she suggested, and she agreed to get a payment terminal, which we thought was available already. Then we were charged an extra 10% for paying by credit card. We asked why, but got no real answer because she didn’t speak English and couldn’t explain it well through Google Translate. The payment process was a mess, and on top of that, our balcony door wouldn’t lock.

The location is excellent, but for the price I think a pousada is a better option. Our suite had no minibar, and although we were told it would be changed on the second day, that never happened even though there were empty suites. There was no hot water when we tried to shower. We were helped promptly after contacting them, and told the cleaning woman had forgotten to turn on the gas, but it still felt like a lack of care for guests. The room smelled musty, had windows facing the hall, and we found dead cockroaches. Other guests made noise in the dining area and played music in the early hours, despite the rules, which apparently couldn’t be controlled. One night, when we got back around midnight, the gate was standing wide open.

The room was clean and smelled fresh, with lovely smelling towels and blankets, plus air conditioning. The kitchen is small but great, with the things you need. The location is excellent, very close to the aquarium, and the atmosphere is wonderful and family friendly. Congratulations to the whole Green Havem Itaguá team! The location is good, but the rooms are small, dirty, windowless, and full of mold. Our room was clean when we arrived, but we were already disappointed to find that its only windows faced the reception, so there’d be no sunlight. The shower stopped working and leaked, and the receptionist told us the problem wouldn’t be fixed and we’d have to stay in the same room. There’s a worrying amount of mold in the rooms, bathroom, and kitchen, as well as a lack of responsibility from the staff.
