Lalabella Praia Grande

The photos on the website match the actual spaces. Staff were courteous and helpful, and the pool really is heated. We also liked the unusual breakfast setup: guests order individual portions from a menu, which avoids waste, and everything tasted good. The inn was very clean.

We went in the low season, at the end of July, and that made a big difference for us. I don't come to Ubatuba in summer anymore because traffic, crowds, mess, and noise make everything harder. In July it was warm enough for an empty beach in the morning and a walk around town at night with a jacket. We chose Pousada LalaBella da Praia Grande because we were staying just a few days and wanted to walk to the beach. The room felt almost new, though I don't know if it had been renovated recently. The beds, mattresses, and pillows were comfortable, the shower worked well, and the drains in both the shower and sink were fine. Three of us stayed in the ground-floor Toninhas room. Only two or three suites were occupied while we were there, which surely helped make the stay feel so good. Think of it more like renting a room in someone's house through Airbnb than staying at a hotel. There's little staff activity apart from breakfast. We were given two keys, one for the gate and one for the room. Towels and sheets were changed when requested, and I asked when I needed them and was taken care of. They respond to what you ask for, but don't expect hotel service to happen automatically. We had privacy and quiet around the pool and in the lobby. Toninhas shares a wall with the kitchen, so I heard a little morning noise, like in a family home, but it didn't bother me. The area was very quiet at night, though I doubt it stays that way in high season. I saw several signs on nearby houses warning of a 10,000-real fine for noise. The breakfast has been described in other reviews. I've recently stayed at two hotels without buffets and liked the setup here. Everything comes out fresher, and they'll bring more if you want another serving. Aline and Gabriel looked after us really well, and were friendly and always ready to help. The comfortable rooms, peace and quiet, and good service were just what I expected.

A simple inn, but tastefully done, with great service. Breakfast is ordered by each guest, while a coffee pot is left out for everyone to serve themselves. It's a clever setup, and there are good choices of bread, cakes, juices, and more. The eggs and juices are made fresh, and the cakes are new. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the Lázaro room, which was a great size. It had air conditioning, a comfortable mattress and pillows, and a really nice shower. The heated pool was lovely, and breakfast was made fresh and served hot. The cakes were perfect, one better than the next. The inn was clean and cozy, and Gabriel and all the staff were kind and helpful. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it.
