The breakfast was simple, nourishing, and really tasty. The homemade curd, a great cheese bread cake whose name I don't know, avocado, and eggs were highlights. The service was great too, and Dona Joana's stories made the stay even better. If you're after a more family oriented place and a local experience, this lovely simple house has loads of personality. The sunset view impressed me. Highly recommend.

The beach was incredible, probably the best I've ever visited, but we didn't have the same luck as some other guests. Service at the inn was awful. Our room was clean and tidy, but none of the wardrobe drawers with locks would actually lock. The air conditioner was faulty, so we had to run it and the ceiling fan at the same time. There were lots of mosquitoes, and repellent didn't help. The plug-in insect repellent in the room was empty, so bring your own. Dona Joana seemed not to like children. The boys weren't even allowed to touch her little dog or make a sound. Eli said she'd get a single bed for one of my sons, but it never happened, and he ended up sleeping on a mattress on the floor. We planned to stay until 18/01 but left early. Service matters a lot to me, and it was really poor here.

Eli and Dona Joana are wonderful hosts, and we felt right at home. The house is very comfortable, with a cozy veranda where they serve an indescribably good breakfast overlooking the sea. Eli is an excellent cook too. She makes delicious pizzas, pasta, and meals to suit guests' tastes. Enjoy their hospitality and try everything!

We spent a week at Azul da Joana hoping for peace, quiet, and decent internet so we could work. We got plenty of peace and quiet, excellent internet, the best breakfast ever, and the cleanest, most comfortable bed. D. Joana brought a wonderful, fun atmosphere, Eli was so kind and helpful, and she also has a perfect restaurant. Shirley was incredibly attentive too. They strike a lovely balance between feeling like you're in a family home and getting hotel level service. Picinguaba is ideal if you want calm, silence, clear water, gentle warm seas, and starry skies. The inn sits across from a small beach, and you can hear the sea as you sleep and look out at it over breakfast. You just go down the house stairs and the little slope to the beach. Azul da Joana and Picinguaba aren't suitable for people who need accessibility. Don't hesitate to book, and ask them to make their amazing cheese bread cake for breakfast!

What a wonderful place. The access road is rough, so take care and drive slowly. Dna Joana is really nice and even made tea for us, and her daughters are lovely too. Restaurants are a bit expensive, and so are the tours, so bring cash. I'd recommend going when the weather is sunny and taking a boat to Ilha das Couves. The beach is deserted and quite isolated. We paid 60 reais to spend about 3 hours there, and there's a visitor limit. It was well worth visiting. I recommend it.
