Pousada O Flautista

After a long trip, the guy who greeted us didn’t even know I had a room booked. We took a shower and went to find somewhere else because we couldn’t stay in the room. The mildew smell was unbearable, there was no ventilation, and the window had to stay shut for privacy. The photos don’t show what it’s really like, and the place didn’t seem clean or well cared for. I’d paid in advance but couldn’t stay. They did refund me, though I lost the cost of a night just to shower. The only good thing was the location. We found a great, clean, affordable inn in the same neighborhood.

The inn has a lovely garden, and having a parking space was a plus. Clean towels and blankets were provided, though they smelled like they’d been stored for a long time. There’s no breakfast. Since it’s near the bars, live music carried loudly into the room until almost 1 a.m. The owner starts cleaning early, around 6 or 7 in the morning, and the noise makes it hard for guests to rest, especially if they’ve gone to bed late.

I chose this place partly because I have a motorcycle, and it has parking. There’s a communal kitchen, an indoor garden, and a TV room. The location is excellent, near the Praia do Iperoigue event center and Boulevard do Itaguá, with a bakery on the corner plus produce shops, bars, and restaurants. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to. It’s simple, but very welcoming and organized. Ten out of ten!

My family and I felt right at home here. It’s a peaceful, welcoming place, with a lovely boulevard area full of plants, tables, and chairs. The rooms have a fan, air conditioning, and a bathroom. There’s coffee available all day, and the shared kitchen has a fridge, stove, microwave, blender, and cooking utensils. A bakery and produce shop are just a few meters away, with a market nearby too. Erike at reception really cares about guests’ comfort, and the owner is an incredibly attentive, welcoming woman from Sergipe. They’re doing things right.
