La Mansarda

We arrived to find the hotel closed, even though we'd paid for our reservation. After trying to reach them for a while, we were sent to an inn 14 km away. It was a really bad experience, especially since we'd also paid R$ 490,00 for dinner. We ended up not staying for both nights at the other inn. We lost the cost of one night's stay as well as the R$ 490,00 dinner payment.

A special mention to Alexandre, who did everything he could to make our stay pleasant. Unfortunately, the hotel's poor organization caused a lot of problems. Our reservation, made directly through the hotel's WhatsApp, wasn't in the system when we arrived. Luckily another room was free. It was clean, but hadn't been set up with everything we needed. We booked specifically for the New Year's Eve dinner, but the instructions we received were wrong. When we got to the restaurant before the time we'd been given for dinner, there were no tables available. We had been told dinner started at 22:00, but it actually ended at 22:00, which left us uncomfortable and frustrated. No one had told us the tables would rotate, so we expected one table per reservation. Instead, dinner was overbooked, and even as guests staying at the hotel we weren't accommodated. We waited almost an hour to be seated and risked spending midnight still stuck in a delayed dinner. Some staff members tried their best, but I don't plan to return.

We went to the hotel's 25/26 New Year's Eve party at the adjoining Bistro, and it was a complete mess. We had a reservation, but they sold more places than they could seat. The first person who greeted us wrote down our name and sent us downstairs, saying they'd call us when a table opened up. After about two hours, past 22h, that person had disappeared. Someone else was running reception with a new list in arrival order, and our name wasn't on it. So after waiting two hours, we ended up at the back of another queue that shouldn't have existed since we had a reservation. We weren't seated until almost midnight. The servers seemed completely lost and didn't know what they were serving. All the food was cold, one dish was bitter and burnt, the courses came in the wrong order, and the presentation was awful. They didn't bring glasses for drinks or cutlery for dessert. Then I noticed some of the plates they were serving from were dirty, which completely put me off eating. I strongly advise against this establishment at Hotel La Mansarda.

They seemed not to understand what “boutique” really means. The place wasn't nearly as clean as it should have been. Steam on the glass around the bathtub and shower revealed writing left by previous guests. On our first night, the water came out cloudy and yellowish. Breakfast was extremely poor, and there were days when no water was provided. Alexandre on the staff was willing to help, but clearly couldn't handle everything. Then on New Year's Eve we were surprised by overbooking. The information we'd received by message didn't match what they said they had, and it felt like they were making guests deal with their own “unforeseen problem.” Once you finally got a table, the courses took a long time. A total lack of consideration. I've stayed elsewhere in Urubici before and never experienced anything like this. I don't plan to return. The owner was extremely rude and got defensive instead of taking charge and actually fixing the problem he and his team had caused. Whoever was responsible, they were representing the place.
