Winter Haven is a rustic seaside resort surrounded by miles of beautiful white sandy beaches, next to a stunning natural harbour. It’s a good escape from cold North American winters and has something for everyone. The modern marina and the island’s main cargo docks are also within walking distance.

From our first meeting, the staff treated us like family. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with amazing views, and the restaurant food was very good. Don’t miss the pig roast they put on.

My wife and I booked a trip after being told ferries could take us there, so we got enhanced IDs. When we arrived in Florida, we found out there weren’t any ferries going there. If I’d known I had to fly, I would’ve bought passports. I called the owner, but she wouldn’t refund my $500 because it was the day before. We hadn’t planned this. I also spent $800 on plane tickets trying everything I could to make the trip, but they still kept my money. I hope karma gets them.
