The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort

The food has been disappointing, and the beds have made it hard to rest. Our room bed feels like a hammock, and the spa treatment beds are so hard and uncomfortable that it’s difficult to relax during longer treatments. We’re in the Garden area, where every sound carries. Cleaning carts start rolling very early and are so loud they seem to be right inside the room. We can also hear nearby doors slamming and guests coming and going. My husband had a golf reservation, but the disorganization and long wait meant he left without playing. This is our third visit. It used to be one of my favorite hotels, but sadly it won’t be a fourth.

We stopped at The Ocean Club for lunch. The place has a calm, classy feel, and the service was faultless. It’s on another level from anywhere else we’ve been in Nassau & Paradise Island. We’ll definitely be back 🙌

The Ocean Club’s quiet style of luxury has long set it apart from the many hotels on Paradise Island. Even before it became part of Four Seasons, when it was known as One&Only Ocean Club, it suited people who preferred understated elegance to spectacle. The lawns are almost impossibly green, palms sway across the grounds, and glimpses of the ocean appear along the garden paths. The setting feels private and serene, very different from the larger, louder resorts nearby. The soft pink façade and tall white columns give the place the feel of a refined Bahamian manor, and the atmosphere makes it easy to slow down. I stayed in what is now a Crescent Wing room, with a private terrace just steps from the ocean. When I slid open the glass doors, the turquoise horizon filled the room like a mural. Years later, watching Casino Royale with my son, I realized I had unknowingly stayed in the very suite used for one of the film’s memorable scenes. It makes sense; the Ocean Club looked ready for the camera long before Hollywood came calling. The infinity pool’s edge blends into the horizon, so in the water you feel suspended between sea and sky. The beach is a long, quiet stretch of white sand with plenty of space and little chaos. Breakfast on the beachside deck is a treat too, with soft light, an ocean breeze, and food made with care. Few places can make a coffee feel almost spiritual, but this is one of them. Service has been a hallmark through both the One&Only era and its present Four Seasons days: gracious, polished, and attentive without hovering. You feel cared for rather than managed. At check-in, Sharon Stone happened to be at the front desk sorting out a reservation mix-up and handled it gracefully. By a lucky twist of timing, and my impressive travel-agent instincts, the room she wanted had just become available for me instead. Later, when I moved to Atlantis for the rest of our trip, she ended up right next door. Even paradise has a sense of humor. The Ocean Club remains one of the Caribbean’s crown jewels. Its elegance is quiet, and the beauty, serenity, refined service, and easy luxury linger long after you leave. Whether you knew it as One&Only or are discovering it under Four Seasons, the soul of the place feels the same. For calm mornings, turquoise water, polished service, and scenery worthy of a Bond film, this is the Bahamas I’d choose.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. We’d consider coming back.
