Boteti Tented Safari Lodge

The safari itself was a highlight, thanks in large part to our guide, Kay. His enthusiasm, knowledge of the wildlife and plants, and sharp eye made each drive both exciting and educational. The fleece lined ponchos in the vehicle were a welcome comfort on chilly early mornings, and we always felt safe and well looked after. We spent six days and five nights at Boteti. The tented rooms were comfortable, with a private outdoor bathroom connected by a sliding glass door. It had a toilet and a hot and cold water shower, a nice mix of nature and comfort. Fresh water was brought to our room each day, and the tents and shared areas were kept spotless. The team, Syrian, Connie and their leader Dominic, were attentive and genuinely caring. They worked around the meal times that suited us, and even stayed up to serve dinner when we got back late from safari one night. We didn’t catch the chef’s name, but every meal was delicious, including the packed breakfasts and lunches for our drives. The whole stay was memorable, and we’d highly recommend Boteti for a safari.

Boteti Tented Safari Lodge was a lovely, peaceful stop on our tour, with comfortable surroundings and attentive, friendly staff. There isn’t much wildlife right around the lodge, though we did hear some sounds at night. Our guide was knowledgeable and caring, and made the experience especially memorable. A good choice for comfort and service during a safari.

The location and rooms are lovely, and having the place to ourselves was the main reason we enjoyed the stay. This was my second visit, though, and the lack of management on site was hard to ignore. Staff seemed to cut corners: nobody helped with luggage or opened the gate, and I ended up jumping the fence while a staff member lay on a couch wearing AirPods. At breakfast, I got one slice of tomato with my eggs, then only two when I asked for more the next day. Nobody checked whether we wanted a drink while sitting by the pool. For the steep price, don’t expect much service. I can only imagine how unpleasant it would be when the place is fully booked. Give it a few more years and it may have gone to the dogs.

We spent five nights at Boteti Tented lodge and chose the more permanent tents, with electricity and open air showers and washrooms. There is also an actual tent/camp option, but we were already planning two nights camping near the Moremi Game Reserve. Our room was spacious and clean, and we had a wonderful stay. The chefs were so talented, and we enjoyed every meal. We were pleasantly surprised to get dessert after dinner. The staff had thought of the little comforts too, from carrying luggage to our room to hot water bottles, cosy blankets for cool evenings, and hot water for tea or coffee in the room. I’d love to come back.
