Cresta Maun

The food was awful: the grilled pork was burnt black, the beef t-bone was dry and tough, and the bream fillet was dry too. I can’t imagine how bad the dinner buffet would have been. The double bed was two single beds with different heights and cushioning, so sleeping in the middle wasn’t possible. We couldn’t get proper sleep because music from a party at Croc Camp blasted all night, from 11 pm until after 5 am on Good Friday. Reception said they had a licence and that it was approved by the President, then acted as if nothing could be done. When I asked them to call, the staff member immediately said it wouldn’t work without trying. They later claimed to have called, if true, this must have happened before. Unbelievable rubbish. What country permits noise pollution late into the night? The hotel is far from the town centre, old, and half the compound is under renovation with a temporary reception. The road there is bumpy dirt, and a new road is still being built. The price is expensive and absolutely not worth it, even by the standards of someone from a highly developed country.

After visiting Jwaneng, I stayed at Cresta Maun. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although smaller than the ones in Jwaneng. The TV signal could use improvement, especially during the quiet parts of the stay. Renovations are underway, and if they include the rooms, that should make a real difference. I’d be interested in coming back after the work is finished.

My room was very clean and the standard wasn’t bad for Africa, though it felt cramped even with just me in it. I didn’t like having the shower and basin in the room instead of a separate bathroom. The hotel is out of town and was being renovated, so the pool and reception were closed. Because of the work and my long prepaid business stay, I moved to their Reily hotel in town. The staff were very helpful with the move.

A spotless, well kept lodge with a good range of food and friendly staff who were very helpful. The Valentine’s announcement was way too loud and didn’t suit the occasion. Hope to see you soon.
