We only spent one night, but had a fantastic time. Rupert was friendly and attentive while still being laid back. He cooked a delicious dinner for everyone, and we had a lovely evening talking with the other guests around the table. The facilities were clean, practical and very good, and the decor was awesome. It's right by the river. Would definitely recommend :)
The rooms are a little rustic, which was fine with us. We loved being out on the lake in the canoes and kayaks, with a new adventure each day. Rupert was a friendly, knowledgeable host, and there were always interesting travelers passing through to talk with.
It's hard to leave Eselbe Camp after just one more day. The atmosphere is so good, and Rubert makes the place feel like home while taking great care of his guests. We spent such comfortable evenings together around the bonfire. I'll definitely come back.
Anna & Josh were accommodating and very helpful during our two nights at Eselbe. The Safari tent was basic but worked well, with its own toilet and a hot shower. We enjoyed cooling off in the ecological swimming pool, and the quirky bar was a nice touch. The well-equipped kitchen was also a lovely spot to meet people and swap stories and experiences.
We had a fabulous stay at Eselbe, a really relaxing place. The river nearby gives the setting a biblical feel, and chickens, cats and dogs wander freely among the tents in keeping with the spirit of the place. You have to visit Eselbe to understand it. Mosquitoes were the one real problem, and they spoiled our second night. They flew through holes in the netting to feast on us. Some tighter, better nets could easily fix that.
