Nomad Houses Glamping

The water and the administrator's response to the problem were the biggest letdowns for me. We had booked house 2 for its forest facing terrace and windows, but were told on arrival that it had run out of water. We were moved to house 8, which was twice as large and had more amenities, so thanks to the staff for that upgrade. Since other houses were available, I wish someone had asked what we preferred. Around 9 p.m. on our second day, the water stopped in house 8 too. The administrator said she'd check the system, then a worker came. About an hour went by with no update about whether water would return, what we should expect, or whether anyone would come into the house. It was around 10 p.m. and 18°C. Eventually I asked what was going on and learned the whole community had lost water and it wouldn't be fixed that day. The administrator didn't try to reassure us or offer drinking water. When I asked if staff could bring some, she said, quote, "Unfortunately, that's not possible anymore (except in the morning)." That was all she said. A staff member later came by, apologized, and brought a bottle. The local staff were polite and friendly, but the administrator, who is only available online, wasn't. We were leaving the next morning, and she didn't ask whether we needed water even to brush our teeth, or if everything was all right. I know problems can happen, especially in very cold weather, but for the advertised service and the Scandinavian village idea, with lagom and hygge, I expected more human concern from the administrator. She could have been more involved. The lack of personal response in a difficult moment was particularly disappointing, and for me the price and quality didn't match. I wouldn't choose to stay again. The location is lovely, with forest, water nearby, and pretty views. But not every house faces the forest. If yours doesn't, you may be looking at people's yards, and none of the photos showed that side of the project. The houses themselves look stylish and cozy, and we stayed in house 8, where the light reflects beautifully. They'd thought of lots of details, including furniture, dishes, fire starters, extra pillows and blankets, pairs of shoes, and yoga mats. Inside, though, the condition left a lot to be desired, especially in the bathroom and toilet. The sofa behind the kitchen counter was stained and smelled unpleasant. The bathroom heated floor didn't work, a real problem in winter with temperatures from -12 to -22 degrees. There wasn't enough fresh air and it was hard to breathe. With the fireplace lit, it got unbearably hot, but if it wasn't tended, the house turned freezing. Even two blankets weren't enough by morning. Getting to the grounds was difficult after heavy snowfall. The road wasn't cleared or sprinkled, and the risk of getting stuck was high. WiFi in house 8 was unreliable too. It didn't work at all on the first day, when staff were only working until 5 p.m. They tried to fix it the next morning, but the connection still kept coming and going.

The two local cats were the best part. They happily climbed into our arms and begged for food, which is why I gave such a high score. The place itself wasn't worth the money, despite looking attractive at first. In Braslav there are plenty of better quality places at more affordable prices. In house #3, the bed was comfortable, the internet worked, and the big windows looked out on nature. But the cheaper houses are cramped even for one person, let alone a couple. The shower was flimsy and left puddles, with the stall raised above the bathroom floor. When I tried adjusting the ventilation, the regulator came off in my hand, and it wasn't clear how to use it. By morning the large windows were fogged over, so enjoying the view through all that dripping water was awkward. The house was stuffy, too. The terrace has no canopy, so rain can leave you without a barbecue or a usable terrace. The woodpile leaks as well, and the wood gets wet. The bathroom door wouldn't close, apparently because the chipboard had worn down, though I might be wrong about the cause. One website-listed advantage is heated flooring, but I have doubts given the air conditioning and the size of the room. The tiles over that heated floor were coming loose too. They charge 50 rubles for a fire starter kit, and the sauna costs about as much as a water park membership. At those prices, I expected better quality. The place feels expensive, flimsy, and uncomfortable.

Three visits so far, and we'll be back again. The cabins have what you need to settle in and unwind, with plenty to do if you want to be active, from walks in the forest to the sauna or paddleboarding. Nomad is a lovely place to recharge and spend time in nature. We'd recommend a stay here! 💔

The grounds are small but tidy, and the street is clean. Still, the houses sit so close together that it doesn't feel private. People are constantly passing by, and staff chat under the windows because they don't have a designated place to gather. The house didn't live up to what we'd expected. It was unbearably hot and hard to breathe inside, even with 16°C (65°F) outside. The panoramic windows were always closed because otherwise the sun would shine in all day. There's air conditioning only in the bedroom, but with a small child we couldn't use it at night, so we slept in the heat. The terrace door is huge and runs on tracks. It seems to have sagged under its own weight, and closing it meant pushing hard on the bottom of the frame. I couldn't manage it, only my husband could. With the house so hot and our small child spending most of the time outside, we couldn't keep the door shut, and insects got in everywhere. There were exposed electrical outlets between the shower and sink, a worry with a small child who splashes water around. Things felt outdated and neglected: the door handles were coming off, terrace paint stuck to hands and feet, the blinds were dirty and torn, and one window was missing an entire piece. There was mold on the shower tiles. Beach mats in the house sounded like a nice touch, but they were filthy, with bits of paper towel stuck to them. It made us wonder whether the floor had been cleaned after the previous guests. The price didn't match the quality. A pretty location isn't enough when the house needs updating.
