Guest House Raisa

My wife and I stayed here from July 22, 2017, to July 25, 2017, after booking a room at this "hotel." On the first evening we were so shocked that we thought about leaving, but decided against it so our vacation wouldn't turn into a hunt for somewhere else to stay. This felt like an unfinished building, and basic living conditions should be there whatever the room costs. The kitchen couldn't really be used because the sink was full of dirty dishes. The windows had no curtains, just tulle held up with fishing line. The bathroom was so cramped that shutting the door behind you was a struggle. Sleeping on the old sofas with Soviet-era mats was like lying on cobblestones. There was no closet or hanger, and no room for one. The furniture was just one chair and one stool, both peeling. The doors felt like cardboard, and the old plumbing was peeling too. Some reviews said it was like visiting grandma in the countryside. Brest isn't a village. It's one of the biggest and most visited cities in the beautiful country of Belarus. I travel a lot and know the hotels in my city, and I haven't seen anything like this even in the most remote areas. SHAME!!!

The TV didn't work, and we found the owner rude. She stood right beside us while we were having dinner and started talking about how she'd forgotten to enter something, then immediately asked for our passports again. When we gave them to her, she complained that everything in her life was going wrong and that people were asking for this information, while insisting she had nothing against us. We couldn't come to an agreement, so we checked out. We asked for a refund, since they had shortchanged us by 2 rubles. We didn't argue and gave her the money. She would cut us off when we tried to explain anything. For some reason, they hadn't asked for our passport details at first. This was a disgusting hotel. If you're reading reviews, turn around and find another one.

The rooms were clean and the bed linen was decent, and the hostess was friendly. The rooms are in a cottage where the owners live. What bothered me was the very old furniture. Of the five beds, only one was comfortable and more or less new. The wardrobe, table, and dishes seemed to be from the war. The shower pressure was extremely weak, and the WiFi kept dropping and was very weak.

The house was cold, and the rooms smelled of smoke. The landlady was unwelcoming, rude, and easily upset. She called us white bones, and towards the end she started chasing us away. We left. I can't recommend it.
