Hostel Old Bridge

Comfortable place, and the staff are good.

We spent two days at this hostel, and as a budget place its facilities are simple. The room was clean, and we had no trouble with noise or neighbors. The staff were wonderfully friendly: they let us check in early, walked us around, and explained how everything worked. Big thanks to the woman who checked us in. We were very happy with the service, and I'd recommend staying here.

It's a reasonable option if you're watching your budget, and the place was clean and tidy. Reception is open 24 hours, so you can arrive at any time. The double room costs about as much as a good furnished apartment, though. The bathroom faucet is so short that washing your hands is nearly impossible. The little dining area has a microwave, kettle, and fridge, but hardly any dishes or utensils. There was just one spoon, for instance. Also, there's a cafe downstairs under the hostel, with loud music and drunk people shouting until 1:00 AM.

My friend and I stayed overnight from July 31st to August 1st. Things seemed fine at first, but that changed at night when three guests moved into the room next door. They were yelling, laughing loudly, and making noise. We asked the receptionist to step in, but the guest only got more aggressive with her, and she said it wasn't her problem and chose not to handle the neighbors. They barged into our room and threatened us. We asked the receptionist to come upstairs so we'd feel a little safer, but got no response. When we asked for a refund on the condition that we leave right away, we were ignored. There was no toilet paper or soap in the restrooms, and our room had lots of spiders. Grodno is beautiful, but this hostel shocked us. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone bothered by spiders or who wants a good night's sleep.
