Crossing the border early is easy from here. We stayed in a roomy village house with all the amenities, and the hosts were welcoming. They have fascinating stories and remember them clearly, so talking with them was a pleasure. Their 200 goats and the twists in the herd’s history made for a lively lesson in goat farming. Even Barsik, an old dog who used to be chained as a shepherd and is now a peaceful goatherd, has his own story.

The kids were delighted by all the animals, especially the dogs, cats, and goats. The hosts were really warm, and the place felt cozy. It's handy for the border crossing, though Google gave us a scare: there was a good road, but it tried to send us into the forest. If you find yourself on a forest track, keep going a bit and Google will probably redirect you to the proper road.

Right by the border, and the hosts were so friendly. They treated us to strawberries, goat cheese, and milk, all really tasty. The place was spotless, too. It has a countryside feel but the comforts of a city hotel, which makes it an unusual spot.
