Hostel Platskart

I wouldn’t recommend this hostel, listed as Hostel In Tower on the island. Check-in happens in a different building, and the only clue is a faded note on the door. The receptionist there seemed clueless. They wouldn’t let me check in at 2:00 PM because the room hadn’t been cleaned, even though no check-in time was specified. When I pointed out that it was 2:00 PM, the receptionist said she didn’t care, so I left without checking in.

The location deserves its one star. Beyond that, the place was a letdown. After a long trip, even with an arrival time agreed in advance, there was no welcome at all: check-in meant going to another office on a different street. I called when I got there, was told about the other office, then tried several more times and nobody picked up. The hostel is just two small rooms with four bunk beds in each. The tiny kitchen has only a microwave, with no table or chairs. An airport shuttle is offered for $25. The advertising makes it sound much better than it is.

It was relatively inexpensive, and the room itself was clean, with its own shower and toilet. The location is convenient, too. The main drawback is that the hostel is in a separate building, even if it is close by, and there is no kitchen or common room to sit in. It feels like a place to sleep and shower, nothing more. Since it's open around the clock, people sometimes arrive at night and make a scene. Still, thank you, it was simply superb otherwise.
