Mir Castle is one of Belarus’s best-known castles. Definitely worth a visit.

With its distinctive architecture, Mir Castle is a notable cultural landmark in Belarus and is recognized by UNESCO. Dating to the 16th century, the Renaissance castle is also tied to plenty of mysterious tales and legends.

The audio guide was well worth getting, there’s far too much to read and take in otherwise. I’m really glad I went and learned more about the region’s history. It’s a fascinating castle for anyone. You can explore its different towers and levels, and climbing all those staircases was a lot of fun. The curators have done a great job making that possible. Tall visitors, though, watch your heads. The stairs were made for shorter men!

Belarus’s approach to landmarks is lovely: the whole area becomes an open-air museum, with lakes, fields, trees, and animals all around. There’s so much history and art here, and beauty in both the architecture and the natural setting.
